LIFE IS A GIFT

This is for all those readers who are in the youth of middle age and beyond.  We all want to be young and while it is wonderful to be young it isn't so bad being older either. (or at a higher level of maturity-sounds a little better, doesn't it)

I've just lost someone very near and dear to me. She was young. Maybe not as young as some of you but too young to die so soon.  She always lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger, had a smile that could lighten a room  and her heart and spirit were enormous. She was looking forward to many more years, wanted to see her children continue to thrive and dance at her grandchildren's weddings.

Today I received this and thought it was so timely and a reminder of just how precious life is no matter the age.

As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.

I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And, I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But, broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

SURPRISES - Part II

The start of this story can be found by pressing here

Leaving the jewelry store they stopped to have dinner and discussed what kind of wedding they would have.  They both agreed to a small family and close friends only affair and chose to have it at home and catered by Bella Vista.

On the drive home, they each wondered about how different life would be after marriage. Sean knew he planned on being the more dominant partner now but he would have to be subtle about it.  Carrie did not like being told what to do.  To Carrie, orders or restrictions were like raising a red flag in front of a bull. But he knew he would have to rein in some of her more dangerous behaviors, especially once the baby was born.  Spanking had always been a part of their relationship.  It just seemed natural to both of them.  He took her over his knee whenever he thought she was over the top.  She accepted this quirk in him and knew what to expect if she tweaked his patience a little too far.  In actuality, he knew she secretly liked it when he “took charge” and never complained about the spankings beyond the fact they hurt. There was no secret about her liking the good girl spankings that were often a part of their sexual foreplay.

Carrie’s thoughts wandered to how she was going to continue working once the baby was born.  She knew Sean’s thoughts on this as they had talked about their friends arrangements for years never thinking they would have to face this problem.  They didn’t need her salary, Sean made three times more than her and worked half as hard.  She knew this was going to be an obstacle. She didn’t think there were any other issues that would be a problem beyond that.  Of course, there were the normal everyday things that Sean did not tolerate well.  She had lived with those and if she ended up over his knee so be it.  It wasn’t that big a deal to her.  Like tonight, she knew she would have a spanking coming once they got home.  That dang power cord, she should have returned in right away, but she was late again and didn’t want to take the time to return it yesterday.

Once home, true to his word, Sean ordered her upstairs and told her to remove her clothing and wait for him.  She did as she was told.  He came upstairs and headed to the drawer containing their implements.  He chose the wooden spatula.  He beckoned her over his knee and began lecturing her once again about how important it was to always have her cell phone charged. He warmed her up with his hand and then switched to the wooden spatula.  Her backside was a lovely shade of red when he was done.  He let her up and told her to go stand in the corner and think about why she was spanked.  He had never done that before but he wanted to make an impression that might stick.  She frowned at him and balked at this.  He told her she had better get in that corner unless she wanted to go back over his knee.  She shuffled over to the corner but not before she stuck out her tongue at him.

“You know I can always soap your sassy mouth too” warned Sean.

Carrie thought about this for a minute and thought for a laid back guy he was turning very mean. She wasn’t sure she liked this new Sean.

He made her stand there about ten minutes.  The longer she stood there the more she thought about just how humiliated she felt.   When he went over to her and kissed her neck she turned away from him and told him she needed some private time. He left the bedroom knowing he would never ask that of her again.

When he came back to the bedroom she was asleep.  He climbed in and leaned over to give her a kiss.  She moved away from him.  He finally fell asleep and when he woke the next morning he was alone.  They met in the kitchen and she told him they needed to talk.  She told him she had never been so humiliated in her life and she would not tolerate being treated as a naughty child by being sent to stand in a corner or having her mouth washed out with soap.  If that was what he wanted she had to rethink her commitment to him.

He listened very carefully.  When she was finished he quietly told her he was sorry she was so upset.  He hadn’t meant to demean her in any way but just wanted her to have time to think about the repercussions of her actions.  He was sorry she felt humiliated but he loved her and the child she was carrying and was worried that some of her negative behaviors put them both in jeopardy. He was just trying to make her aware how her actions could affect all of them.

Her tears began to fall and he got up and held her in his arms for a long time.  When she was finally calmed down she told him that she understood she deserved the spankings he often delivered but to her once that occurred she was exonerated from the misdeed and didn’t need further punishment.  He understood her feelings and made a resolution to her and himself they would discuss the need for any additional disciplines together and come up with a solution that was amenable to them both.

A couple of weeks later Sean found a package on the mail table.  He hadn’t ordered anything so was surprised and ripped open the package.  He couldn’t believe what was in the package.  He called out to Carrie and she yelled back she was in the bedroom.  He entered holding up the item.

“Did you order this?”

“Yes, what do you think?  I was thinking about our earlier discussions about the need for reminders in addition to spanking.  This is something I could live with”

“I think this just might work.  I’ve been thinking about our discussion too.  Another thing that might be beneficial is that when I spank for a misdeed I spank longer and we do not immediately have sex afterward.  I think that will make it more like discipline instead of a prelude to more enticing things.”

She agreed.

The week before their wedding they were both edgy.  Carrie was getting bogged down in details and the normal everyday things were placed on the back burner.  One of those things getting ignored was filling up her gas tank.  She ran out of gas halfway home.  She knew Sean would be apoplectic so decided to call AAA instead.  Unfortunately for her Sean saw her and the AAA truck on the side of the road.  He needed to get his anger under control so he just drove on by and headed for home.

He was waiting for her when she walked in the door.  He led her upstairs, flipped up her skirt, removed her panties and pinioned her legs with his.  The usual hand warm up seemed harder than usual and before she was able to come to terms with it she felt the sting of the paddle.  He lectured and punctuated each word with a spank.  It was fast and furious and her bottom was on fire.  She was weeping silently but he told her they were not finished. She felt something very cool being applied to her anus.  She knew what was happening. The next thing she experienced was their new “solution”. When he felt she was sufficiently ready to accept it he pushed in and twisted.  With the butt plug securely in place he once again began spanking her with his hand.  He stopped after ten swats and told her she could get up but she was to leave the butt plug in place for the next two hours.

She was hurting and the butt plug felt very awkward but she was very wet and excited.  When Sean began giving her the usual “aftercare” kiss and hug she tried grinding her body into his and felt his erection.  Although he too was more than ready for some “fun” time he pushed her away with the reminder this was discipline not pleasure.

Carrie accepted his decision but was not happy about it.  She told him if he wouldn’t participate she had other ways of sating her need.  She reached over to the nightstand and produced her vibrator.

“Oh no you don’t, little girl.  If I have to suffer so do you.  Maybe you’ll think twice and won’t be so foolish as to earn a discipline spanking.”

She responded by telling him that she may not earn a discipline spanking but she planned on earning a “good girl” spanking in the very near future.

He chuckled and said he couldn’t wait.

This is the conclusion of the story started yesterday. There is a little of me in this story but the names and dates have been changed to protect the innocent.  Only older folks will recognize that line.  Hope you all enjoyed.

SURPRISES

 SURPRISES

She was already late. She had left the city an hour later than she had planned and now she was stuck in the traffic jam from hell. Her phone was dead so she couldn’t even call.  She knew he would be worried.  She tried to calm herself down before a case of road rage really kicked in.   She turned on the radio and listened to some smooth jazz.  Within minutes she was lost in the music and her jangled nerves calmed.  She could do this.

What seemed like hours but was actually minutes later the traffic jam eased and she was on her way. There were several cars and emergency vehicles on the side of the road.  But for the Grace of God it could have been her.  She was always hurrying. Sean was always telling her to slow down.  He was her exact opposite.  He didn’t rush for anything or anybody and yet everything he touched turned golden.

They had been together for over fifteen years but had never bothered getting married.  Their thinking had been if it’s not broke don’t fix it.  They knew other couples who lived together for years and decided to marry only to be divorced later. However the news she received today would definitely change their relationship.  That was why she was in the city.  She had been feeling poorly lately and after a couple of trips to her local physician had been referred to a specialist.  Several tests had been run and today was the appointment to hear the results.  She was pregnant. She had been told she would never be able to conceive so it was a complete shock to her and it would be a complete shock to Sean also. She couldn’t wait to get home to tell him.

By the time she walked in the door he was frantic with worry.  When he couldn’t reach her by cell phone, he called all her friends, her parents and anyone else he could think of to see if they had heard from her.  She breezed in the door as if walking on a cloud.  She saw him and it was as if the cloud burst.  He was all grim and bearlike.  He took her in his arms, gave her a huge hug and kiss and upended her.  She was sputtering, telling him she had a good reason for being late and he was being unreasonable.  He wasn’t even listening.  He was taking his two hours of worry and frustration out on her butt.  When he finally stopped he let her up and once again took her in his arms.

“I was so worried” he explained

“I know and I’m sorry but the traffic was horrible and my cell phone went dead”

“Are you telling me you still haven’t replaced the car charger you lost last month” Sean asked

“No, I mean yes”, she said sheepishly.

“You know I ought to spank you again for that.  We live so far out that it is dangerous to be without a charged cell phone at all times.  How many times have we talked about this?”

“I know, I know.  I promise I will get one tomorrow”

“You better, because if you don’t, you will be eating your dinner standing up.  Do you hear what I am telling you?”  He asked.

“Yes”, she answered.

He asked her what she wanted to do about dinner.  She told him she wanted to go to Bella Vista.

“Bella Vista is pretty expensive for an every day dinner.  Why don’t you pick someplace else?”

“No, she said, I want to go to Bella Vista.” He didn’t argue.

So they drove to Bella Vista. Because it was a Tuesday night they had no trouble getting a table.  It was on the lake and very romantic which was why they usually saved it for special occasions.  Their small table was set with a snowy white cloth and the silverware and glassware sparkled in the candlelight.  Carrie reached across the table to hold Sean’s hand.

“Aren’t you curious why I wanted to come here tonight?”

“A little” Sean answered, “but you seemed pretty adamant”

“Let’s order and I will tell you”

When the waiter came, he ordered their usual appetizers and a bottle of wine.  When it arrived, he started to pour some into her glass and she stopped him.

“Don’t you want any wine tonight?” as he began to fill his glass.

“Not tonight”,  she said and picked up her water glass to raise a toast.

“Will you marry me” she asked.

“Why the sudden interest? We have talked about this and always said that unless children were involved we didn’t see the need”

She just continued to look at him all dewy eyed and she could see the light bulb going on in his brain.

“Are you telling me what I think you’re telling me?

She nodded .  He took a large gulp of his wine and asked her to tell him everything.
She explained how she had not been feeling well and had been sent to a specialist.  She just had the results today and that was why she had been late leaving the city.

He felt a little sheepish about spanking her but then realized she more than deserved it.  All the more reason she should have kept her cell phone charged. And why hadn’t she told him she hadn’t been feeling well?  Now he was going to be more vigilant than ever . All these thoughts are filtering through his brain as he is rising to get to her across the table.  He is pulling her up out of her chair and lifting her up and twirling around.  The other diners are watching and smiling - feeling the joy of this couple.

That night as they were lying in bed entwined in each other’s arms she mentioned that he hadn’t answered her.  Not thinking, he asked what was the question?  She punched his arm and said she wasn’t going to repeat it; he could just think about it and let her know when he did.  With that, she punched up her pillow, pulled the sheet up around her neck, rolled over on her side and tried sleeping.

“Oh no you don’t”, he said. “You are not going to ruin the best night of my life without telling me why I am in the doghouse.”

“You still don’t get it, do you” she replied.

“No, I don’t, that’s why I am asking you to please tell me”

“I asked you to marry me and you didn’t respond” she whined.

“Tonight you told me news that I just said made it the best night of my life, of course, I will marry you.  I would have married you after our second date if that was what you wanted.  I love you and I will love you forever, with or without children, you silly goose.”
She rolled around and cuddled into him.

 _______________

He called her the next day and asked her to meet him at an address in the city.  They were supposed to meet at 5:30.  It was 6:05 and he hasn’t heard from her.  He didn’t despair just yet.  She was always running behind but if she didn’t call him soon it was her behind that was going to suffer.  6:15 and still no call or Carrie.  Finally at 6:25 he sees her turning the corner.  He walks up to greet her, looks at his watch and ducks into a nearby ally.  When she passes, he grabs her, pulls her into the alley and places her over his hip.  He lands a few well placed smacks on her butt and begins lecturing her on calling when she is going to be late.  She sheepishly tells him that her phone had no bars.

“Not again, he said.  Did you not promise me to get a new charger?  And did I not promise you a good spanking if you didn’t?

“Yes, she said, but I have an excuse”.

“Well, I can’t wait to hear it but it will have to be later.  We have an appointment right now with the jeweler.  He wanted her to pick out an engagement ring and wedding ring.  She had no trouble finding one she liked.  The engagement ring was a simple princess cut solitary diamond set in white gold and the wedding ring was a thin white gold band with  pave cut stones.

She constantly amazed him.  He purposely did not put a price limit on the ring sets.  The set she had chosen was well below the cost of what we would have chosen for her. They also chose a ring for him.

Finally - a little adult time

A couple of nights ago we finally found some quiet time for "adult activities".  I really needed it badly as evidenced by my post.  I thank all of you for telling me it was not whining but venting and I really did come to see that but sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees.

Anyway, we finally stumbled back to our RV after watching four littles under six for about six hours.  Let me tell you that is daunting.  They have so much energy and then when they are spent and all clean and shiny they still want your attention.  But they are so worth it.  Anyway, I digress.  When we got in and said hello to our kitties, who wondered who we were, hubby suggested some release.  I was exhausted but couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Lately, he has been counting swats to see how many I can take before calling a halt.  Yesterday, he stopped at 250 with the leather paddle and I still hadn't called halt.  He had enough of that part even if I hadn't. He wanted to get on to the "funner" parts. Truth be told I think I was probably numb from the last couple of days and could have taken double the amount.  Anyway, we went on to dance our dance and today the world looked and felt a little brighter.  Even my brother remarked that we were a "fun couple" today.

Now if I could only sleep like that every night. (Oh wait, I can - just need the right foreplay)

The Play Date

Zack was supposed to have picked up his daughter Mia ten minutes ago and he knew she would be unhappy with him.  At eight years old she was a pistol and definitely took after his ex-wife.  She was a No Mercy kind of girl.

He and his wife had been divorced for five years.  He had known the marriage was a mistake from the beginning.  They got married because Marti was pregnant.  The pregnancy wasn’t planned and they discussed the available options but before he realized it Marti was planning their wedding and they were off to Lake Tahoe.

By the time Mia was two they were separated and divorced when she was three.  Since then he saw Mia whenever he was in town.  As a Sports Agent he traveled extensively and he had just arrived back into town that afternoon.  The plane hadn’t taken off on time.  He wasn’t sure which he was looking forward to the least; facing his ex-wife’s wrath because of his lateness or his daughter’s pouting face. At least he didn’t have to deal with Marti for very long.  He hoped that once Mia heard his plans the pout would disappear.

Tonight they were going to see the new Ice Age movie, then out for pizza. When they got to the movie he saw there was a line to purchase tickets. He cursed himself for not thinking of doing it on line.  Just then Mia let out a squeal and ran ahead of him.  He caught up to her in line while she was chattering away to a little girl.

“Daddy, this is Toni.  We go to school together.”

“Hello, Toni.  Happy to meet you.”

A hand reached out to him as Toni’s mother introduced herself.

“I see you didn’t order tickets in advance either”

“Yeah”, he replied, “I just got back into town and it never crossed my mind”

Mia asked if she could go over and play in the amusement area.  He told her it would be okay and he would come get her when the line started moving.

When the line moved they called the kids;  the kids wanted to know if they could sit together.  They agreed.  When it was over, Zack asked Lorna if she and Toni would like to join him and Mia for pizza.  The kids were jumping up and down so there was no way Lorna could turn down his offer.

They had a great time and when the evening was over Zack and Lorna exchanged phone numbers so set up a play date for the kids for Sunday. Zack actually wanted to ask Lorna to dinner some night without the kids.  He figured he would wait to see how Sunday went before sticking his toe in that particular pond.

Sunday turned out to be a disaster for the kids.  As kids, and especially girls wont to do, they had a dispute over some ridiculous thing and wouldn’t talk to each other.  The day couldn’t end soon enough for Zack.

He was surprised when he got a call on Wednesday from Lorna asking him if he would like to attend a Gallery Opening with her on Sunday afternoon.  He said he would love to but he had Mia until then.  Lorna understood and said perhaps another time.

He could have kicked himself for not suggesting dinner after he dropped off Mia.  He liked Lorna and would enjoy seeing her again.  He called her back and said he would be dropping off Mia about 5:30 and asked if she wanted to meet him downtown at Mercurio’s.

Zack was twenty minutes late getting to Mercurio’s.  Lorna was waiting and although she was pleasant she let him know she didn’t like to be kept waiting. As she chastised him she told him that good manners dictated you call if you are going to be late.

“Wow, I haven’t been scolded like that since I was a little boy.  Are you going to spank me too? Zack asked.

She blushed.   He apologized for being late but didn’t offer any excuses. During the course of the evening he noticed a couple of characteristics that reminded him of his ex-wife.  He certainly didn’t want to make that mistake again.  She definitely seemed to be a take charge person and when he mentioned it to her she said she was probably just still in mommy mode.  He told her he appreciated independence in a woman but after all the testosterone he dealt with in his work he really appreciated the softer sides of the opposite sex.

When he walked her to the car he told her he was going out of town for a couple of weeks and would be in touch when he returned.   He didn’t set an exact date but he did intend to call her. He would give her the benefit of the doubt and if she still seemed a little caustic he wouldn’t make any future plans.

She called him mid week and left a message.  They played telephone tag for a couple of days but never made contact.  When he got back in town it was his weekend for Mia so he didn’t make any plans with Lorna.  While he and Mia were out on Saturday they ran into Lorna.  She was annoyed that he hadn’t contacted her.  It really bothered him that she would act out in front of Mia.  He determined he would not call her again.

She constantly called him over the next several weeks.  He never once returned her messages.  One day he came home from a trip and she was sitting on his doorstep.

“What are you doing here”? he asked.

“You haven’t answered any of my phone calls” she said.

He told her he hadn’t because he didn’t think they would be a good fit.  She wanted to know why and he explained that she came on a little too strong for him.  He told her he didn’t like how she had confronted him in front of his daughter among other things.  Lorna wanted to know what other things.  He told her to just leave it and he thought it would be better if they just moved on.  She kept pushing the issue and Zack was losing his patience.

“This is an example of why I don’t want to continue dating you”.

“I would like some answers because I’ve run into this problem in other relationships.  I am trying to learn what I am doing wrong.”

“You’re not necessarily doing anything wrong.  I just think you and I are not a good fit.  It doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be a good fit for someone else”.

He explained to her that in his marriage, Marti and he both had dominant personalities and it didn’t work out too well.  He determined any future relationships would have to be different.  He wanted a woman who was softer.

“What do you mean by softer” she asked.

“Someone who isn’t as aggressive as you seem to be.  You attack, scold, badger – these are not the qualities I associate with soft.  I want to take the reins in a relationship.”
She started to tear up and Zack wasn’t sure if these were crocodile tears or the real thing.  She got herself under control and asked him if he would give her another chance.

He told her he would think about it and give her a call in a day or two.  He got up and led her to the door. He had no intention of changing his mind but he would call her and let her know his decision.
The next day she sent him a cookie bouquet with a card thanking him for being honest and thinking about giving them a chance.  His resolve weakened. He called to thank her for the cookies and set up a dinner date for the next weekend.

They actually had a great time.  Lorna was like a different person.  He wasn’t sure if this was an act but he was willing to give them a chance. When they got to her door he told her he liked this version of Lorna much better.  She told him she had spent a lot of time thinking about what he had said and decided he was right.  When her marriage ended she was bitter and her husband hasn’t helped since then.  He rarely kept his promises to Toni and had not sent any child support payments in over a year.  Being a single mom meant she had to be in charge and she realized she didn’t always shed the coat when she wasn’t being a mommy.  Lorna told him it would be nice to have someone else in charge for a change if she could only remember to let go.

Zack was surprised when he got home from his trip to find he had a package waiting for him.  It was from Lorna. He opened it and laughed at what he found inside.  It was an old wooden ruler along with a note which read

          Dear Zack,
I found this in an old box of my dad’s things.  It has been well used
and I can attest to its ability in curbing unwanted behavior.
.        You might want to keep it handy.

Whine and Cheese Anyone?

We don't have much time for "adult activities" so I have nothing to report.

It's been drama, drama, drama this am.  Yesterday, my brother, his BIL and a friend took out the boat to go fishing.  Sometime between then and this am my brother realized his wallet was missing.  Needless to say, we have been on a search and to no avail.  YEAH, As I am writing this my brother just told us he left it at their last stop.  Catastrophe avoided. Thank you Saint Anthony.

The swinging door at my brothers continues to swing inward.  I counted  and  there are a minimum of 15 people here most of the time.  The last couple of days that number has increased and I am totally "done". There is a gate but I think that the code must be posted on FB because everyone seems to have it.  I am tired of doing laundry, emptying  the dishwasher, mopping floors, picking up after kids, cooking, trips to the airport, etc. etc. etc. I am not alone but I seem to be the "mother".  If I didn't love my brother and SIL so much I would head for the hills.  But I am needed and somehow I will prevail. I am very happy to be able to help them through this troubled time.  Easing her transition and being there for my brother is my contribution. Doesn't mean I won't whine about it though.

Priceless

Dan wakes up with a huge hangover after attending a company party.  He is not normally a drinker but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol.  He didn't even remember getting home from the party.  As bad as he was feeling he wondered if had had done something wrong.

He forced himself to open his eyes and the first thing he saw was a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table.  Next to them, was a single red rose.  He sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.  He looks around the room and sees it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean.  He takes the aspirins and cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring at him in the mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick.

Honey, breakfast is on the stove. I left early to get groceries to make your favorite dinner tonight.  I love you, darling.  Love Jillian

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is a hot breakfast, steam hot coffee and the morning paper.  His 16 year old son is also at the table eating.  Dan asks:

 "Son, what happened last night?"

"You came home after 3:00 am, very drunk.  You fell over the coffee table and broke it, then you got sick in the hallway and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

Very confused, he asked his son:

"So why is everything in such perfect order and so clean.  There is a rose and breakfast on the table waiting for me"

His son replies,  "Oh, that.  Mom dragged you to the bedroom and when she tried to removed your pants, you screamed....

"Leave me alone, I'm married!!"

Broken Coffee Table $239.99

Hot Breakfast $4.20
Two Aspirins $.38
Saying the right thing, at the right time. .. PRICELESS

Hope you got a chuckle out of this.  I thought it was pretty funny.  Have a good weekend everyone and hope to see you later here at Aimless Ramblings.

Stormy's Challenge-ABC's of TTWD

I took Stormy's challenge and came up with a list.   Our version of TTWD being unique to us probably makes my list a little different.

Denis Leary Speaks

A friend of mine posted this on her FB page today.  I absolutely loved it and wanted to share.  It is so very true.  Some of us were just discussing this today as we watched our nieces and nephews play.  They have no judgement, no hate, just love.

Happy Anniversary to Us

As many of you may or may not know we are in Texas for an extended visit.  There is a family situation and we are here to lend support. My brother has a Texas size place and along with a large house there is room for several motor homes, boats, and all sorts of toys.  Lots and lots of space.  Along with us, there are my niece, her husband and two grand nieces, my brother and SIL, brother and sister-in-law's brother and SIL, SIL's mother, nephew and wife with two grand nephews and many other daily drop-ins.  Within the next couple of days we are expecting more family and friends and while it is awesome to all be together it can also get a little overwhelming and stressful at times  Today is our wedding anniversary and we actually went off on a date - just the two of us.  It was wonderful to sit back, eat a great dinner and just enjoy some adult time with no meal prep or after dinner clean-up.

We planned on a little adult playtime when we returned but alas we have visitors.  Could it be they have forgotten what anniversaries are for?  If I can stay awake long enough, I might get lucky.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.

THINGS ONLY WOMEN UNDERSTAND

This is similar to a David Letterman list:

10.  Cat’s Facial Expressions

9.  The need for the same style of shoes in different colors.

8.  Why bean sprouts aren’t just weeds.

7.  Fat clothes.

6. Taking a trip without trying to beat your best time.

5. The difference between beige, offwhite and eggshell.

4. Eyelash curlers

3. Cutting your bangs to make them grow.

2. The inaccuracy of every bathroom scale ever made.

AND THE NUMBER ONE THING ONLY WOMEN UNDERSTAND IS

1.OTHER WOMEN

Enjoy the weekend everyone.  See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.
