Color Me Red

Nose that is - not cheeks.  I have been down with a head cold the last couple of days.   Looking forward to lots of play this weekend though.  We're going on a dinner cruise for NYE and then an overnight hotel stay and the following day some great Cuban food at one of our favorite restaurants.  Gonna miss that when we move - but then we'll have great Mexican food again.  So its a tradeoff.
Last weekend to splurge - it's back to WW on Monday.

Toy Story

We had a great Christmas.  We ordered a new toy to add to our arsenal and tried it out Christmas morning.  I’m not going to be a tease like PK over at New Beginnings.  It’s a spanker by Eden Fantasies.  It looks and sounds more evil than it is.  Although my hubbie says I have buns of steel so I might not be the best judge. It has a nice sting.  I texted hubbie and asked if he wanted to play later today.  “Hell Ya” was the answer  -   so whoopie.

We spent Christmas day with friends and their kids and grand kids.  One of the little sweeties is 6 and got an IPod.  She knew the words to all the songs and I’m not talking about nursery rhymes.  It was an eye opener to realize how aware children today are at such a young age.  It’s no wonder Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and the rest are raking in millions because they catch their fans at a very early age.

Yesterday we drove to the Orlando area to spend with family.  It was fun to see everyone.  My SIL is going through a rough patch right now so it was good to see just how terrific she looks and how wonderfully well she is coping.  If I ever have to face her dilemma I hope I can do it with as much grace and courage. I’m very proud of my baby brother too for the way he is dealing with and handling everything.

One of my grand nieces (is that what you call your niece's girls?) is so precocious.  She is such a flirt and a real charmer.  Her Mom and Dad are in for a world of anxiety when she gets older.  Actually they are there now - I can see the grey hair's already. What a pistol-she is fearless and she’s only 2.

Drive home was exciting.  We were about ten miles from home when we realized our headlights were not working.  Luckily for us - not for the oncoming cars – the high beams worked.  Guess where hubbie is now?  That’s my tease.

Enough aimless ramblings for now.  See ya later.

Christmas Presents

I've already received three Christmas presents and it is not even noon.  They didn't come wrapped in pretty paper and tied up with ribbons and bows but they were the best kinds of presents.  They were

Getting a call from my 7 year old grandson saying he just wanted to know how I was doing.

A text from my husband telling me he loved me.

A call from traveling family saying they arrived safely.

I hope all of you are as lucky as me.  I want to thank you for welcoming me into this blogland family. I have enjoyed "getting to know" all of you and look forward to more of the same.  May you have a wonderful blessed holiday and get everything you wished for and hope to have and may not all come in wrapped packages.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

The Countdown Begins

Four days until Christmas.  The weather has been really warm, nearly 80 today so it doesn’t much feel like Christmas. We didn’t decorate this year because with packing for the move unpacking the Christmas stuff seemed ridiculous.  We will be spending our last Christmas in Florida with some friends that live at the beach.  A fitting farewell I think.

We did it - we bought a motor home.  Moving just got a lot easier and harder too.  For the past couple of days hubbie and I have been sorting and moving things into the motor home.  It’s exciting – we haven’t done anything like this in thirty years.  Our last experience was with a truck and cabover camper hauling a dune buggy into the California desert.  Two adults, one child and two huge German Shepards in a cabover camper.  Tight quarters but oh so much fun.  Now there are two of us and two kitties in a 32 ft motor home.  For those of you old enough to remember there’s a song by Steppenwolf that keeps running through my head.

Get your motor running, head out on the highway, looking for adventure and whatever comes our way……………….Like true nature’s child we were born, born to be wild, We can climb so high, I never want to die.

This post really is aimless ramblings.  Today was an afternoon delight.  We’ve both been running around the last couple of days so it was needed and welcomed.  I told hubbie I wanted a hard spanking. He asked what implement I wanted and I told him to choose.  He chose the soft leather belt.  I so love the feel of that – never would have thunk it.  I definitely prefer leather to wood.  It hurts so good.  Afterward we danced our dance and then sat out on the lanai and watched the sun slip away on another day and one day closer to Christmas.  A couple of old farts just enjoying life and looking for adventure.

Being Thankful

Anyone who keeps up with Shelter in the Storm may have read comments by Mom of 6 on Stormy’s last two posts.

Mom of 6’s comments are so very depressing and my heart goes out to her.  Anonymity makes it difficult to offer help to this unfortunate woman.  Stormy has offered good advice via her comment section.  Mom is reaching out for a better life and I pray she is able to achieve that wish.

It makes me realize how lucky I am and have been and I thank the Lord for my many blessings today and every day.

Make it a Great Day

Christmas Cheer /Bah Humbug

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time.  Why is it that so many of us are stressed to the max preparing for this day?  Is it because we are trying to live up to an image of a perfect day, or is it because by the time the day actually arrives we are so over the whole thing. After all, stores have been decorated since before Halloween, you already can’t stand to hear another version of Drummer Boy and you hope Rudolph gets lost because you haven’t found just the perfect gift for your sister’s husband who you really don’t like.

In the Hallmark version of Cristmas none of those things happen.  Everybody gathers at Grandma’s house, everyone pitches in, the turkey is not too dry, nobody drinks too much eggnog, and Uncle John doesn’t go around pinching fannies.  It’s utopia and totally unrealistic, at least it is in most families. But it’s what we imagine we want because it’s just so warm and fuzzy.

So is it our own expectations of what Christmas should be that derails us.  I like to think that Christmas used to be simpler but I’m not sure if was ever simple.

Now where did I put that roll of wrapping paper?  Did I remember to include the batteries in that toy for Peter?  Did I get a card for the mailman?  Is Santa going to fit down my chimney – wait  I don’t have a chimney. Well I better go get one first thing tomorrow.

BITCHINESS IS ME

We are in the process of moving.  The actual event is not until the beginning of February but until then there are a million things to do.   We’re not taking anything but personal items, but it’s a lot to sort through.  Then it’s a matter of what you can’t pack until the last.

Last week we decided that perhaps the smartest thing to do would be to purchase a motor home.  It will make life easier in that we have loving pets and it will be easier on all of us.  If we do buy the motor home, some of the things I planned on packing will be needed in the motor home so packing is basically at a stand still. I think I’m beginning to feel the crunch because we have to book the movers during the first week of January.  What seemed like a long time away is, in reality, three weeks away and Christmas and New Years are thrown in between.  Not real good planning on our part.

Anyway what this is leading to is that I’ve been a little testy lately and hubbie has been bearing the brunt of it. While I tend to lash out and then let it go (most of the times) he holds it in and just stews and then and then and then.  My husband has a loud voice and is very much an alpha male- and while he doesn’t yell his voice can quickly escalate to that authoritarian tone.  I don’t react to that very well and usually we are off to the races.  We had a a little altercation last nite just before he retired.  That tone was there so naturally I reacted and said “FINE – WHATEVER” and went back to my computer.  I was a little miffed but no big deal.  A few minutes went by and the bedroom door opened and he came out and apologized.  He explained why he had reacted the way he had and that we would have to come to a decision that we could both live with.  As is so often the case, he was the grownup.

We had a similar incident a few days earlier.  I was bitchy and I could see that I had gotten to him, but he just walked away.  I told him a day or so later that he should have just taken me over his knee.  He has never done that except in playtime but I wanted to let him know the option was there. He told me he had given it great consideration but what he really wanted to do was strangle me so he thought it best to leave well enough alone.  We resolved that issue in the bedroom.

Today I was reading Rogue’s blog about trusting and letting go.  I haven’t been doing that lately and I need to get back on track.  He is such a good man and loves me even when I am unlovable and I have to trust him to make the right decisions (with my input of course). See what I mean I am my own worst enemy.

Pole Dancer (North that is)

Ladies, this is a hoot.   When it asks for your name, just put in your first name.  Watch it all and you'll find out why.   Turn on your speakers

I'm Ready

No spanking again.  I really could have used one the last couple of days but he’s been too too.  He knows I would be much less cryptic if he would just oblige, so don’t know why he’s not following through. Sometimes he’s just too nice.   With the weekend coming up maybe, just maybe I’ll get lucky.

Cookie Exchange

These have always been my favorite cookie.  They melt in your mouth.  I have been making these cookies for almost 50 years and they are always the first ones to disappear.

Russian Tea Cakes
1 cup butter softened
½ cup powdered sugar
2 - 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla
¾ finely chopped nuts
¼ tsp salt
Powdered sugar
Heat oven to 400.   Mix butter,  ½  cup sugar, vanilla together.    Sift in flour, nuts and salt until dough holds together.  Shape dough in balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 10-12 minutes until set but not brown. Remove from cookie sheet and cool slightly on wire rack.  Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar.  Cool on wire rack.  Roll cookies in powdered sugar again.

Just Wondering

I live in Florida and this is the time of year when the weather is almost perfect.  It is definitely convertible weather so why is that so many of them are being driven with the tops up .  Why have one?  Just my observation.
Could it be because the ones with the tops up are tops and the ones with the tops down are bottoms? If so,  that's why mine is usually down.

FEEDBACK

PK, Kitty, Mikki, Ronnie, Abby, Pooky, Faerie, Jean,  Paul, FD thank you for your nice  comments on my Fantasy Friday story Who Could Have Imagined posted on New Beginnings.    A couple of you suggested a continuing  story.  It’s a work in progress – we’ll see how it goes. Had to laugh at Mikki’s comment, it’s just a closet though.  Got that idea from Kitty’s posts.

Anyway thanks for the encouragement.  Fantasy Friday has been a must read for me for quite a while now and it seems odd to log in and see my story.  I’m with PK in urging you to start writing some stories and send them in.  It’s kinda fun having your 15 minutes of fame.

Have a Happy

Just Had to Share

I don't know if anyone out there in blogland currently live in or has lived in Colorado.  I have and just had to share because it had me in stitches. These are so very true..

YOU’RE FROM COLORADO IF:

You eat ice cream in the winter

It snows 5 inches and you don’t expect school to be cancelled.

You live about 10,000 feet, sometime Summer comes on Sunday and you can go fishing

You’ll wear flip flops every day of the year regardless of the temperature

You have not accent at all, but can hear other people’s.

Humid is over 25%

Your sense of direction is:  Toward the mountains and Away from the mountains

You say “the valley highway” and everybody knows which interstate you’re talking about

You think that May is a totally normal month for a blizzard

You buy your flowers to set out on Mother’s Day but try and not plant them until after Father’s Day

You grew up planning your Halloween costume around your coat.

You really don’t expect to have a White Christmas but do expect a White Easter

You smell the stockyards and you can expect significant snow

Every movie theater has military and student discounts.

You know what a “trust fund hippy” is and that its natural habitat is Boulder

You don’t care that some company renamed it, the Broncos still play at MILE HIGE STADIUM

You actually know that “South Park” is a real place NOT just a dumb show on TV

A bear on your front porch doesn’t bother you

People stop traffic to allow the elk to cross the road

You’re talking to a fellow Coloradoan when they call it Elitch’s and not Six Flags

Your two favorite teams are the Broncos and whoever is beating the crap out of the Raiders

When people back east tell you they have mountains in their state, you just laugh at them

You go anywhere else on the planet and the air feels “sticky” & you notice the sky is no longer blue.

You always know the elevation of where you are

You wake up to a beautfil 80 degree day and wonder if it is going to snow later.

You know what the Continental Divide is

You don't think Coors beer is such a big deal

You've gone off roading in a vehicle never inended for that purpose

You went to the Casa Bonita as a kid AND as an adult

Brrrrrrrrr and Other Ramblings.

It's 43 degrees here and it's already 9:00.  I know this probably sounds like a cake walk to some of  you but I live in the sunshine state and it's not supposed to be that cold here. I'll be like Nanook of he North on my walk. Who says we aren't experiencing global warming?

Anyway, a couple of days ago, FD asked me how I “came” out as a spanko and how my husband reacted.  For those of you interested in hearing my story here it is.  I’ve been a spanko ever since I can remember.  It’s not that I got spanked a lot; I only remember getting 3 spankings when I was just a little girl.  I was always interested in seeing spanking in movies, on television and in the books and magazines to which I had access.   Growing up when I did it was more publically prevalent then than now.
I was never spanked as an adult until I was married.  I remember bratting trying to get him to spank me it but it never worked.  I thought I wanted A to step up and be dominant but although he has a dominant personna in reality it didn’t work with me at home.  I had been on my own for many years when we met and married so I was very used to making my own decisions and living life on my terms.  Actually he had his hands full in the first few years we were married.  I have to give him a lot of credit for hanging in there because I was not easy.  We had enough in common and were different enough in other areas that it worked out for us.  We loved each other and that got us through the rough spots.   I am sure though there was many a time my husband would have loved to have taken me over his knee and spanked the daylights out of me.  I know there were definitely times I deserved it. Actually, there are still times I deserve it but our spankings are reserved for fun.

When we were younger, I asked A to spank me as part of foreplay a couple of times.  He did once or twice and that was it.  He would give me playful swats now and then. Years went by.  Then sometime late last year we needed a little “spice” in our life.  I suggested we step up the role playing and add spanking to the mix.  It worked like a charm this time.  He likes spanking me and I like being spanked. We now have our own little toy chest and laugh about what our daughter will think when the times comes that she has to settle our estate.  Maybe she will need a little “spice” by then too.
We have a great relationship and people are  always surprised how long we have been together  because we are always holding hands and are very solicitous of each other. He's always brings me flowers for no reason and we write each other little "love" notes.   He's a very touchy, feely kind of guy.  I don't know how I got so lucky.  Don't get me wrong we have our disagreements.  Our daughter laughingly calls it "the fight of the day" but it's never about anything that really matters.
You know those pictures you see on greeting cards where there is a couple, holding hands, walking on the beach at sunset, well that's us.  Are we not lucky.
